How it's made:

Stained glass cookies are not only pretty, but also a great combination of crisp butter cookie and sweet candy glass. Dress up your Christmas tree or simply enjoy the cookies with your loved ones.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Stir in vanilla and eggs. In another bowl, mix together the sifted flour, baking powder and salt; add egg mixture and milk to the flour and make a dough. Knead the dough until medium soft and non sticky. Place in a plastic bag and refrigerate for at least 30 min.

On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough 1/8 inch thick. Cut out snowflakes with a snowflake shaped cookie cutter and transfer to a baking sheet. Cut out a smaller shape out of each snowflake, to form the frames of the cookies.
Keeping the colors separate, place candy in plastic bags and crush with a meat mallet. Place crushed candy pieces inside the cookie frames.

Bake for 6-8 minutes in preheated to 180℃/375℉ oven, or until candy is just melted. Cool on baking sheet until candy is hard. Carefully remove cookies off the baking sheet with a spatula. Keep the cookies in a cool place, because the candy glass may melt.
