Honey-Bacon Wrapped Asparagus

Stanislava Dimitrova
How it's made:

Asparagus season is up and running and I am going to share one of my favorite weekend recipes – asparagus wrapped in honey-coated bacon. Easy to make, light finger food, perfect for a garden party.

Wash the asparagus spears, peal the bottom 2-3 inches and bend the stalk. The asparagus snaps exactly where though stalk meets tender spear. Once trimmed, coat lightly the asparagus spears in extra virgin olive oil. Season with salt and wrap each asparagus spear with a slice of bacon. Grill them on the oven or over a hot grill. Once the bacon starts cooking, coat the asparagus-bacon sticks with honey. Cook 10-15 minutes, until the bacon is crisp and the asparagus spear is tender.

Sprinkle with freshly ground Parmesan cheese and raise a glass of chilled Pinot Grigio to toast this simple delight.

Shopping list:
1/2 kg asparagus spears
extra-virgin olive oil
150-200 gr thin-sliced bacon
1 tbsp honey
pinch of salt
